Blogging again…

Well this post should be called writing again. I have a rare form of ADD called D-ADD, Denial of Attention Deficit Disorder, to where I know I want to do things, but my random interest in everything causes everything else I started in limbo. I am no doctor, so I shouldn’t self diagnose. I think I am a big procrastinator. This introduction is an example of such procrastination, as most of the information you are reading is completely irrelevant to the whole point of this blog.

Which leads me to my next point, I really don’t have one. As many of my dedicated blog readers know, I have been on a quest to make my blog popular, make it acceptable, get on digg.com or AC, have virtual debates via comments, you know a blogger’s dream. This desire to be accepted by people I do not know, or perhaps never meet, has left my real life and like a Trojan horse virus, and infected the part of my brain that infected my writing.

I not had a writers block when it comes to blogging, its just sometimes, I feel too whiny, too ignored, too radical, too liberal, too extreme, too pressured to be something I created in my imagination that the world would appreciate. I lost my passion and purpose for blogging because I was writing to please people, instead of the original purpose which is to use the written word to inform, reform, inspire, teach, warn the people. I admit my writing would be catered to what I thought and sometimes presumed to know what people hail me for.

Then I got poetry again…. On a different level, like never before. Writing poetry again gives me the freedom to draw concrete conclusions from abstract thoughts. For a long time I had not written poetry, because I began blogging. When i stopped blogging, the poetry came again. So much so, I will post my poetry on a separate blog, because I like creating new blogs. (not really, its just easier that way). I also wanted to allow people to read, critique and share their poetry. If you want to submit, email poetryagain@gmail.com.

With that said, I am blogging again. I am not too sure what the subject matter, tone, or direction of Lifewonk.com. Then again, it is life, who is really sure of anything, right?

People Falling on Stage, Vol. I

I am a big Beyonce fan, but recently she suffered one of the most embarrassing things an entertainer can do, fall on stage. Though funny, she isn’t alone. I venture to believe we all get extra pleasure seeing people fall on stage (or in general if your a cruel jerk like me).

Enjoy, People Falling on Stage, Vol. I

Beyonce…

Kelly

Michelle…

Janet…(watch up until like 1:18)

Christina Aguilira…

Britney Spears….

Shakira…

Tyra Banks…

Naomi Campbell…

Carmen Electra…

Random People…

Politicians and Dictators

ok.. this is getting out of hand.. and its midnight…

Bl-Emo Vids

Won-ings! I have been on this Bl-Emo kick. I am peculiarly interested in the Emo Movement. I always to find things and try to find parallels in other cultures in my own culture. The easiest and non-condescending way is in music. I am a fan of neo-soul, hip-hop, some southern rap at times, oldies, anything I can groove to is okay with me.

I find it funny that Emo music and artists is usually described laced with whiny, bitter, loveless themes. I went through my iPod and instantly found half of my music is Bl-Emo. (Bl-Emo = Black and Emotional, some will call it other things, but in the context of this blog and others, this is what it means).

Well here are some videos of my favorite Bl-Emo artists and video. One huge theme in all of these videos, they all ask at least 4 questions in each song. Usually something about ‘ why don’t you love me?’ over a beautiful melody.

Get Along With You- Kelis

notice in this video, kelis wants love and peace. she doesn’t want anything, including her life apparently. don’t miss the part where she does the craziest ventriloquist act I’ve ever seen.

Ex-Factor-Lauryn Hill

i dub her the ‘Queen of Bl-Emo’. No other rapper, poet, singer, activist, mother, is more in touch with her emotions than Lauryn. Notice the glamorous beginning and dark mystic ending….kinda mopey huh?

Ex-Factor-John Legend Cover

(he wants a piece of the action too...at least he didn’t bomb(can i say bomb on a blog?)(can i put multiple parentheies within a set of parenthesis?))

Stranger in My House - Tamia

blemo artists always seem that obvious things to others are complete surprises to them….as is the case in this video

Emotional- Carl Thomas

the title says its all. at least Carl Thomas was cool and bl-emo, he covered his message with Stacey Dash!

This Womans Work-Maxwell

this is the best 4 minute whine fest about a tragic birth, i have ever heard. people call this a love song and its clearly about a woman dying during child birth. The video re affirms it.

Half-Crazy- Musiq

another awesome song and video. classic bl-emo. Break up+ soul singer+great production+a record deal= half-crazy

Lil-Star- Kelis

nothing like self pity for a hit record….cool video and i love the song.

Ok…i think I’ve proved my point…. more to come…..
